Privacy at PlanCamps

Last updated 2 October 2026. Written to be read, not to be survived. Our Terms of Use sit alongside this page.

PlanCamps helps a family plan a summer: which camp, which week, which child. To do that we hold some information about you and your children. This page says exactly what, why, who else sees it, and how to make us delete it.

The short version. We hold your email, your home address, your children's first names and birthdays, and the camp weeks you have planned. We do not hold card numbers, passwords, or your child's medical information — no allergies, medications, conditions or camp health forms. We do not sell your information, and we do not give it to advertisers. You can delete all of it yourself, from your profile, at any time.

What we collect, and why

WhatWhy we need it
Your email addressTo sign you in, to send a co-parent invite you asked for, and to email you when a camp you saved opens registration.
Your home addressTo show how far each camp is from you. It is turned into a map coordinate; nothing else.
Your children's first names and birthdaysThe name labels their column on the schedule. The birthday works out an age, so we can tell you a camp is for ages your child isn't.
Interests, work hours, budget, emergency contacts, and — if you enter them — your doctor's or dentist's phone number and your insurance detailsAll optional. They exist so you can fill in a camp's paper form by copying your own profile instead of retyping it. The form asks you not to enter allergies, medications or conditions, and we do not want them.
Your plan: which camp, which week, which child, paid or notIt is the product.
Who is in your familySo both parents can sign in with their own email and see the same schedule.
An approximate city, guessed from your IP addressSo the first screen a visitor sees is camps near them rather than the whole country. Your browser asks an IP-lookup service for a city; we never store the IP. Typing an address replaces the guess, and signing in replaces it with your own home address.

Your exact location is only ever used if you tap use my location, which asks your phone or browser for permission first. Every distance on the site works without it.

We deliberately do not collect health information — no allergies, medications, conditions or medical forms. Camps ask for those directly, and we would rather not be a place where they are stored.

Children

PlanCamps is for parents, not for children. Accounts belong to adults, children do not sign in, and we never contact a child. The information we hold about a child is what a parent typed to plan their summer: a first name, a birthday, a colour, and optionally some interests. A parent can delete it at any moment, and deleting the account deletes it.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of companies to run the site. They are given only what their job requires, and none of them may use it for anything else.

CompanyWhat reaches them
Supabase (database, on Amazon Web Services)Everything above. This is where your account lives.
Stripe (payments)Your card details, if you book and pay for a camp through PlanCamps. We never see or store a card number.
Google Analytics (visit counts)Which pages are visited, from roughly where (city level, IP address shortened before it is stored), and what kind of device. No name, no account, no email, and nothing about your children or your schedule. Ads features and cross-site profiling are switched off. You can turn it off for your browser below.
Google (sign-in and maps)If you sign in with Google, they confirm it is you — we never receive your password. Addresses are sent to Google Maps to place them on a map, with no name attached.
Resend (email)Your email address, at the moment we send you something.
Netlify (hosting)The ordinary web-server record of a visit, including your IP address, kept briefly.
IP-location services (ipwho.is, GeoJS)Your IP address, once, to guess the city to open on. No name, no account, nothing about what you searched for.

Because the site is built from public code libraries and loads Google Maps and Google Fonts (and Stripe, on the payment screen), those companies see your IP address in the ordinary way any website's suppliers do. We run no advertising tags and no tracking pixels. We do run Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies so it can tell a returning visitor from a new one. Besides those, the only things we keep in your browser are what signs you in and a few small preferences, such as a notice you dismissed.

Cookies, and turning analytics off

We set no cookies of our own. Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_…, and Stripe sets one on the payment screen to detect fraud. Signing in is remembered in your browser's local storage, not a cookie.

If you would rather not be counted, tick the box below. It is remembered in this browser only, so tick it again on another device. We also honour the Global Privacy Control signal automatically.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. If a camp advertises with us, it buys a position in a list — it is never given anything about the parents who saw it.

What we count

Where a camp has paid for a position in the results, we count how many times its listing was shown and how many people tapped through to it, so it can see what it bought. Those counts are a camp, a date and a number. They contain nothing about who you are — no name, no account, no IP address, no record of what you searched for. The camp that bought the position is never told anything about the parents who saw it.

Sharing your schedule

You can create a link that shows your schedule to someone else — a grandparent, the other parent. Anyone holding that link can see it, so treat it like a key. You can revoke it at any time from your schedule, and deleting your account deletes every link you made.

Deleting your account

Profile → Delete your account. We show you exactly what will go before anything goes, and it is immediate:

Prefer to ask a human? Email info@plancamps.com and we will do it for you within 30 days, usually the same week.

How long we keep things

Your account and your plans stay until you delete them — last summer's schedule is a record you may want next spring — and deleting your account deletes them. Records of a payment are kept as long as accounting and tax rules require. Our hosting and email providers keep their own short-lived operational records, such as server logs and delivery receipts, on their own schedules rather than ours; we would rather tell you that than publish a number we do not enforce.

How it is protected

No system is perfect. If information of yours is ever exposed, we will tell you what happened, what was involved, and what to do — promptly, and without waiting to be asked.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask for a copy of it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@plancamps.com and we will answer within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Camp directors

If you run a camp, we may hold a business contact address for you, gathered from your own public website, so we can ask you to confirm your listing. Ask us to remove it and we will, and we will not write to you again.

Changes

If we change something that matters, we will say so on this page and date it. If it materially changes what we do with information we already hold, we will email you first.
